Every December our singers have the opportunity to sing across the city at tree lighting ceremonies and holiday events. Recently, one special performance was at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). OurCentral Intermediate Choir Advanced choir performance was broadcast throughout the hospital to those ill, their families and the staff tending to their needs. We were reminded by a doctor that singing and music is a healing arts just like medicine. It was a special moment when our young singers experienced how powerful their voices can be.
At BCC we believe teaching our singers to use their voices together in harmony is one way we can begin healing the many divides our society faces. Each individual voice is celebrated, but each student learns they can create beautiful music by working together - no matter the differences. This lesson represents the community BCC envisions for all of Boston and the world.
During this time of year, we hope you celebrate your family's traditions with peace and joy and recognize the diverse richness your neighbors, friends and colleagues bring.
Happy Holidays!
