Ana Villalobos, Class of 2019, is a graduating senior of the Premier Choir. Ana joined BCC because she wanted to continue music as an extracurricular. She has been apart of BCC for the past four years, where in her first two years she sang in Concert Choir and the last two years in Premier Choir. Outside of BCC, Ana sings in two other singing groups at her high school. Also, she is the president of her choir’s student government, a member of Junior Statesmen of America (JSA), and lastly works at a local preschool.
BCC has given Ana some of the most incredible experiences of her life. Without BCC, her high school years would’ve been very different and dull. For example, her most memorable moment at BCC has been her solo during “Lord How Come Me Here?” at this year’s 16th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute concert. One of Ana’s favorite performances at BCC was Express Yourself at the Wang Theatre because “the environment is beyond incredible! The people involved in the production are so genuine.” The Wang Theatre is one of the biggest venues Ana has performed in, and she can’t wait to sing in the Wang one more time.
When asked about a special piece that she performed with BCC, Ana said “Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine” by Eric Whitacre because “this was the first difficult song I learned by myself in Premier Choir.” When Ana finally learned and performed the piece, she recounts that: “I felt so accomplished and it made me feel like I earned my spot in Premier Choir.”
We asked Ana about our season theme, Through Her Eyes, and what it means to her, she said: “Through Her Eyes means focusing on women throughout history and women in the future. I think it is so important to emphasize the role women have in society and I’m so happy we are focusing on that this year!”
