Hey BCC community! My name is Leah. I'm 16 years old and I sing in the Premier Choir at BCC.
I joined BCC because I was home schooled, and my mother was looking for a place where I could make friends, and make music. My experience as a BCC singer has been life changing. I started singing in BCC 5 years ago, and in that time, I have grown to be so much more confident and happy. Being a singer in BCC gives me the power to use my voice, in something bigger than myself. Using my voice to combine with other voices to bring social change, is really something that will stick with me forever. My most memorable moment in BCC was probably the day that the Rockport concert took place last year. I remember walking around Rockport with a very close friend, just sight seeing and getting ready to perform. Her and I both purchased matching friendship bracelets, and took pictures of the breathtaking views that Rockport had to offer. Then of course, the performance. But, the most memorable part of that day, was after the concert, when all of Concert Choir rejoiced in post-show glory. I had to take a moment, because I felt such a strong emotion take over my heart. I was so proud of what we had just done.
Watching over Concert Choir as their Co-President last year, all the struggles, and how we had all grown in that year really made me so, so proud. Now, I've learned at BCC rehearsals to push myself harder than I ever thought I could go. Especially this year being my first year in PC, I have been practicing and sight reading like my life depends on it. But, I'm actually doing it. 5 years ago, when I first started in South Boston Training, I would have NEVER thought I would be able to do the things I do now. All in all, BCC helped me meet an irreplaceable friend of mine, and gave me so much confidence in what I think I'm capable of doing. Happy 15th Birthday BCC!!
