BCC congratulates the first recipient of the Hannah Storm Randolph Memorial Scholarship, Treasjah James.
The Hannah Storm Randolph Memorial Scholarship was created in memory of Hannah Storm Randolph. Hannah was part of the Boston Children’s Chorus family and a member of Concert Choir.
Hannah was, above all else, kind. She is remembered for her compassion, generosity, friendship, and empathy. She put others before herself.
In establishing this annual scholarship, Hannah’s family wishes to recognize a dedicated and empathetic Concert Choir singer. Students were nominated based on their work ethic, commitment to BCC, and consistent support of peers. The scholarship will cover the awardee's BCC tuition for this season.
We are thrilled to announce that Treasjah James received this award for the 2019-2020 season. Treasjah has been a member of BCC for eight years, originally joining our training choirs in 2011. Since then she has progressed through the ensembles and is now a senior member of the Concert Choir. She exemplifies many of the skills and values outlined by Hannah Randolph Memorial Fund, but most specifically, she is a kind and warm young person, who consistently lifts up her peers, and shows deep empathy for fellow students.
‘Tis the gift to be simple, ‘tis the gift to be free,
‘Tis the gift to come down where you ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
‘Twil be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gained,
To bow and to bend we shan’t be ashamed.
To turn, turn will be our delight,
‘Till by turning, turning we come round right.
