Join Boston Children's Chorus on a journey as we explore the intersecting paths of two iconic figures in the fight for civil rights: Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. In Road to Freedom, we delve into the complex and multifaceted relationship between these two towering figures, highlighting their shared struggles, divergent tactics, and ultimate contributions to the fight for equality.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, though often portrayed as ideological opposites, shared an unwavering commitment to the cause of civil rights and a common vision of freedom and dignity for all. Through powerful music and poignant narratives, we trace their respective journeys from disparate beginnings to their converging paths in the pursuit of a common goal: the realization of a more just and equitable society.
Join our singers as we continue to walk the Road to Freedom, inspired by the grit and courage of those who came before us, and determined to create a world where we are all truly free.
Anastasia Talley
Anastasia Talley is a dynamic performer whose versatility has allowed her to successfully perform opera, art song, concert work, jazz, and musical theatre. She is currently portraying the role of Katherine on the First National Tour of MJ the Musical. She was recently a cast member of MJ The Musical on Broadway, after making her Broadway debut in Girl From the North Country. She is a proud member of the Tony-winning ensemble, Broadway Inspirational Voices—recently featured in the world premiere of Public Works’ Hercules. She was seen as a vocalist in the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall alongside the dazzling Rockettes. Her love for music and vocal precision have provided many opportunities, such as the role of Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica, Deena in Dreamgirls,Trix in The Drowsy Chaperone, and a Dynamite in Hairspray. Gracing iconic stages such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, Anastasia is an accomplished performer who has been a supporting vocalist for the Tony Awards, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, the Today Show, and Tony Award-winning artists such as Patti LuPone, Reneé Elise Goldsberry, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jason Robert Brown. In addition to being an actress, Anastasia is also a singer/songwriter. She recently released her debut single “Hello”—available on all platforms.
Anastasia was raised in Mississippi where her passions for music, singing, and performance were born. She went on to pursue her bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern Mississippi. Upon receipt of her Bachelor of Music Education she further honed her craft of classical voice and earned her Master of Music and Performer Diploma in Vocal Performance from the prestigious Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
