PLACEMENT SESSIONS  

Placement sessions are BCC’s version of auditions, except every singer is welcome to join BCC! This is our chance to get to meet you, hear you sing, talk about schedules, and welcome you to the BCC Family. We ask singers to prepare an excerpt of a song to sing (even Happy Birthday works!), answer a few questions, and tell us why you want to sing at BCC. That’s it! Anyone who auditions has a spot in one of our choirs and finance is never a barrier to participation.

All singers are welcome to have a placement session, however, placement sessions are not required to register for BCC. Placement Sessions are required for those in grades 6-12 who are interested in participating in our twice-weekly ensembles: Roxbury Intermediate Advanced, Concert Choir, and Premier Choir.  

There is no cost to sign up for a placement session. 

VISIT A REHEARSAL  

Once rehearsals are underway for the season (September through May), prospective singers are welcome to visit a rehearsal to see BCC programs in action! Visit our choirs page to learn the specifics of each of our choirs’ age ranges, schedules, and locations, and then reach out to our Program Coordinator, Margot Wegman, at mwegman@bostonchildrenschorus.org to coordinate your visit. We’d love to welcome you!  

OPEN REHEARSALS  

Three times a year, in October, February, and May, BCC holds open rehearsals at select locations where prospective members are welcome to join us! During our Open Rehearsals, we also encourage our current BCC singers to “bring a friend.”  BCC welcomes new singers into our programming throughout the season!   

Our open rehearsals allow singers and families to experience a BCC rehearsal, meet singers and staff, explore rehearsal spaces, and receive a special presentation about BCC’s after school programming. Plus, you can register to participate on-site!

RECRUITMENT WORKSHOPS 

Do you know people who may be interested in singing with BCC? BCC offers free workshops with local schools and community organizations to share our unique approach to crafting meaningful singing experiences. If you’re interested in having a BCC artistic staff member join you at your school, please reach out to info@bostonchildrenschorus.org to express your interest.
