Named Boston’s “Ambassadors of Harmony” by the Boston Globe, BCC presents over 50 performances per season in a wide range of public and private events across the city of Boston and beyond. Among our proudest moments are:
PERFORMANCES
In July 2026, for the second year in a row, BCC performed in the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of MA & America
In September 2025, BCC joined Mandy Gonzalez on the Symphony Hall stage with The Boston Pops for the finale of Mandy’s debut show titled “Everything I Know: Mandy Gonzalez sings Lin-Manuel Miranda”
In July 2025, after 11 years, BCC returned to the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular. We previously performed with the Pops at the Fireworks Spectacular in 2007 and 2014
In May 2025, BCC participated in Boston Lyric Opera's free community opera, "Noah's Flood" by Benjamin Britten
In September 2024, BCC had the honor of opening Boston Symphony Orchestra’s “Concert For The City”
In July 2023, BCC singers performed “Carmina Burana” with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus & Boston Symphony Orchestra
BCC joined Mayor Michelle Wu in welcoming the Prince & Princess of Wales to Boston with a performance of "Panic" from WILD: A Musical Becoming at Boston City Hall Plaza for the Welcome to Earthshot Boston 2022 Ceremony
In October 2022, BCC singers were invited to perform at the Boston Celtics home opener during halftime to honor basketball legend & civil rights advocate Bill Russell at TD Garden
BCC produced a music video for “Those Heroes Who Healed the Nation,” a piece that the Shaw 54th Partnership commissioned from composer Julius Williams for the Shaw 54th national rededication ceremony on Boston Common
In December 2021, BCC singers performed as the Earth Choir in American Repertory Theater's premiere of WILD: A Musical Becoming with Idina Menzel, Javier Muñoz, YDE, and more. The creative team included Justin Tranter (songwriter to Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga), V (former Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina Monologues), and ART's Artistic Director Diane Paulus
In 2019, BCC singers performed twice with Hugh Jackman at TD Garden for his world tour: The Man. The Music. The Tour
In July 2019, BCC’s Premier Choir and Young Men’s Ensemble toured Australia with a culminating performance at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Gondwana World Choral Festival
In the Summer of 2019, singers from Premier Choir and Concert Choir sang at Faneuil Hall for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment in partnership with Suffrage 100MA
In May 2019, Melinda Doolittle joined Boston Children’s Chorus on the stage at the Boch Center: Wang Theatre for our season finale, Lift Every Voice
In March 2019, the Young Men’s Ensemble participated in Saengerfest: Brothers, Sing On! with singers from Natick High School and the Morehouse College Glee Club
In 2019, BCC’s Premier Choir and Young Men’s Ensemble provided an original vocal tracking for the Movement Art Film, Funeral for America, directed by Jon Boogz
In 2018, BCC’s Premier Choir and Young Men’s Ensemble had the honor of working with movement artists Jon Boogz and Lil Buck in a collaborative performance of Have You Seen Me at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art
Boston Children’s Chorus is honored to sing the National Anthem at the Red Sox each season, including in 2016 for the retirement ceremony of David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz
To date, hundreds of singers have traveled the world with BCC. International cultural exchange tours completed include Japan, Mexico, Jordan, England, Scotland, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Australia
In 2015, BCC singers were invited to perform at the dedication of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate, whose programs inspire the next generation of young leaders to engage in the civic life of their communities. The dedication was attended by national, state, and city leaders, including President Obama, Vice President Biden, Senators Warren and Markey, Governor Baker, and Mayor Walsh
BCC singers were invited by City officials to use their voices for healing following the April 2013 Marathon tragedy, including the City-wide Interfaith Service, as well as the One Year Remembrance Tribute attended by victims’ families, survivors, and national, state, and city leaders like President Obama, Vice President Biden, Governor Patrick, and Mayors Menino and Walsh
In 2009, BCC singers were invited as featured performers on the national public radio program “From the Top”; they partnered with “From the Top” to co-produce a nationally broadcast MLK radio special in 2010. Only the best young classical musicians in the country are invited on “From the Top”
Premier Choir received widespread critical acclaim for its prominent appearances in Opera Boston’s world-premiere production of "Madame White Snake". As a result, BCC was invited to travel to the Beijing Music Festival for the Asian premiere
Invitations to sing at the Boston Pops Fourth of July Celebration, the Inauguration of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, Boston Pops programs at Symphony Hall and at Tanglewood, and events for royalty such as HH Princess Caroline, King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Rwandan President Kagame, and HM King Abdullah II of Jordan
BCC convened and participated in a collaborative children’s choir that performed before more than 20,000 delegates at the 2004 Democratic National Convention
AWARDS
In 2020, it was announced that the album Fantastic Mr. Fox won a Grammy for Best Opera Recording. This recording featured the acclaimed Boston Modern Orchestra Project in collaboration with Odyssey Opera and Boston Children’s Chorus, under the baton of Gil Rose
Recipient of the 2015 Brazeal Wayne Dennard Award from Chorus America, recognizing BCC’s commitment to diversity, inclusiveness, and furthering African American choral traditions
Winner of the 2013 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, distinguishing BCC as one of the top arts and humanities-based programs in the nation; BCC accepted the award from First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House
Winner of the 2013 ArtsFwd Business Unusual National Challenge from EmcArts, Inc, supporting big ideas and the necessary tools to take on adaptive challenges around anti-bias and empathy training
Recipient of the 2013 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Young Leadership Award from Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries
Recipient of the 2011 Margaret Hillis Award by Chorus America, recognizing BCC for artistic and organizational excellence and a commitment to outreach, education, and/or culturally diverse activities
In 2010, BCC received its first grant from the National Endowment for the Arts
In 2010, BCC’s Executive Director David Howse was recognized with a 2010 Boston Business Journal “40 Under 40” Award, which annually honors Boston’s best and brightest young executives
The 2009 Martin Luther King, Jr. television program received a prestigious Gabriel Award, nationally recognizing it as the best local artistic, creative and inspirational media presentation
Chosen as a 2004 Social Innovator by the Social Innovation Forum, an initiative of Root Cause
SPECIAL EVENTS
In January 2026, BCC was proud to be part of the inaugural MLK Boston Weekend in partnership with Everyone250, Embrace Boston, the 56th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Breakfast, and Project 351
Executive Director Andres Holder & BCC were selected to be a host committee member for Earthshot Boston 2022; BCC staff & alumni attended the taping of the ceremony, filled with star-studded presenters like Shailene Woodley, Catherine O'Hara, David Beckham, & breathtaking performances from Billie Eilish, Ellie Goulding, Chloe & Halle, & Annie Lennox
BCC opened the 2014 TEDx Boston conference held at the historic Great Hall at Faneuil Hall, showcasing rarely sung verses of Woody Guthrie's "This Land is Your Land," the critical response to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America"
At the 2012 TEDx Boston, singers presented two songs, and Artistic Director Anthony Trecek-King presented a personal story conveying his and BCC’s philosophy of how children should be treated and the kind of world BCC strives to create
BCC was the first youth chorus in the country to have a live, prime-time televised concert on Dr. King’s Holiday. We are proud that our signature event, the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Concert, was televised live on WCVB-TV Channel 5 (ABC) 2006-2011 and was syndicated nationally 2009-2011 to millions of viewers across the U.S. While no longer televised, we continue to present a brand-new program each year at Boston Symphony Hall and proud that it has become a tradition to many for celebrating the national holiday
