IN-SCHOOL PROGRAMS

In collaboration with the students, faculty, and administration, Boston Children's Chorus (BCC) offers choral programs during and after the school day.

BCC’s distinct approach to choral music education elevates both artistry and cultural consciousness in every rehearsal. Each week, students practice physical and vocal warm-ups, stimulating aural training, tenets of wholistic music literacy, sight reading activities, body mapping exercises, and culturally relevant repertoire. Students develop an age-appropriate pedagogical understanding of their vocal instrument. The repertoire is chosen from various genres including Gospel, Neo-Soul, Musical Theatre, Contemporary, and Sacred Choral music.

BCC offers year-long, six-month, or catered short-term programs based on the needs of each school. If you are interested in bringing culturally relevant, joy filled, ensemble singing to your school, please reach out to info@bostonchildrenschorus.org.

Bradley School through generous support from BPS Arts Expansion and EdVestors. We are deeply grateful for their partnership in helping bring the joy and power of music into Boston classrooms. 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Big Sing is a citywide choral celebration presented by Boston Children’s Chorus (BCC) that unites over 700 students in grades 2–6 from 10 schools across Dorchester, East Boston, Mattapan, Roxbury, and South Boston for a powerful day of music, unity, and joy. This year’s program, "Better Together," features songs that celebrate community and social change. Inspired by youth-led movements such as the 1963 Children’s Crusade and Boston’s school desegregation efforts, Big Sing empowers young voices to come together and sing for a better future.
