BIANCA LUCAS

Teaching Assistant

Bianca Lucas is a music educator and performer currently pursuing her Master of Music in Music Education from Boston University. Bianca also recently earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Boston University, gaining a foundation in vocal technique and production. As a classically trained vocalist, Bianca performed this past year with the Boston University Opera Institute, Chicago Summer Opera, and St. Paul’s Parish in Cambridge.

Bianca’s teaching has been greatly shaped by her experience at the Montessori School of Syracuse, where she developed a strong understanding of the Montessori philosophy of education. This foundation continues to inform her teaching practice and guide her commitment to student-centered learning. Bianca also worked as a voice teacher through Belvoir Terrace Performing Arts Camp for two consecutive summers, teaching individual voice lessons in classical, musical theatre, and popular styles. She continues to teach voice as an Associate Mentor through Musical Mentors Collaborative.

Throughout her time at Boston University, Bianca has researched extensively about cultural implications in the choral setting, and feels passionate about supporting an environment where confidence, community, and joy are central to musicmaking. Bianca is so excited to be assisting the Jamaica Plains Training Choir this year, and is looking forward to working with wonderful faculty and students at BCC!
